1. LANGUAGE
Bad/offensive will not be tolerated to an extreme extent. An occasional swear word here and there are okay, but when I have to read a post with about 15 different swear words in it is when I get angry.
2. BEHAVIOUR
At all times you should be respectful and considerate toward the other users who inhabit this board. Naturally some people do not get along, unfortunately that's unavoidable. But it's our job to try to make sure everyone enjoys themselves while posting here, so if certain people are making posting unpleasant for other members of the board then they will be very quickly shown the door, so to speak. If you have a problem with another member then I suggest you PM them and try to sort out the issue, or - failing that - contact myself or another staff member and try to have the issue resolved.
Do not start arguments in topics and turn the forums into a battleground. I don't care who started it, or who was just retaliating. If you have a problem then sort it out privately. If you wish to remain a part of this board then you need to respect your fellow members and not disrupt other people's conversations with petty arguments. It is also considered a common courtesy to show respect to members who have inhabited the board for a longer time than yourself. And of course, you should always respect and obey staff members - if they tell you to drop an argument, then drop it.
3. LEGIBILITY
It is expected that all users on this board make an effort to ensure that their posts are legible - that is to say, easy to read and understand. This covers a number of things, but first and foremost is basic spelling and grammar. I don't expect everyone to be a master of the English language, but everyone has basic grammatical skills and I expect you to use them. It can be really tedious trying to read and understand what people are saying when they refuse to use basic punctuation like commas, full stops and capital letters.
If it's a particularly long post, try splitting the post up into paragraphs (like this) to make it a bit easier to read. Just basic little things like that. And if you like to play around with the font size/color settings in your posts, please remember to keep it nice and easy to read - text that is huge and bright can often be very annoying, as is text that is too small or dark and hard to read. And please try to avoid over-excessive use of emoticons.
And remember, the Spellchecker button is your friend. Use it.
4. IMAGES
No pornographic, adult, graphic or otherwise inappropriate images will be tolerated. This includes any images you post on the board, text links to images on other websites, and the personal avatar you choose. Please try to remember comying others' things is illegal. SO don't do it, that goes for text too.
5. SPOILERS
Spoilers are significant plot points from a movie, book, etc. that may ruin someone's viewing/reading experience if they were to unwillingly discover them prematurely. This may include, but is not limited to, the death of a character or other crucial plot developments or twists. Any topics revealing information about recently (or yet-to-be) released books, movies, games etc. should contain a spoiler warning clearly in the subject title of the topic, eg. "New Episode III Info (SPOILERS)". This everyone will know that the topic that the topic contains spoilers, which allowed you to freely discuss the spoiler material inside that topic without ruining the surprise for anyone who chooses not to read about it.
6. POSTING
Just a few guidelines for posting in general. Firstly, as I've mentioned above this is a discussion forum and some standards are expected in regards to the quality of conversation. Don't be stupid or make pointless silly little posts. There's really no need to have twelve different people reply with "LOL" after somebody says something, and it can kill the discussion pretty quickly.
Secondly, if you're planning on starting a new topic, please think about which forum is most suitable for the topic in question, and make sure you place the topic in that forum only. Do not post the same topic in multiple forums. Before making the topic, you should always check to see if there's already a similar topic on the board - there's no point having two topics on the same subject. And, as mentioned above, please make sure to include a spoiler warning in the topic title if the subject contains any spoiler material.
